Dear distinguished participants,welcome to Y7 Japan 2016!
It has been two years since the last Y7, which was held in the United Kingdom, and I am incredibly delighted to bring Y7 to the fore of youth diplomacy once again.
Also, I am profoundly moved by the level of support this organisation has received from our IDEA partners in the Y7 countries and the European Union, who continue to believe in us and stay united for our common cause, which is to promote opportunities for young people like us. It enables us to continue engaging in a meaningful dialogue with our peers and and our governments, and this is exactly what Y7 (and Y20) is all about.
As such, this summit should be approached with sense of duty to do service for young people, particularly the most vulnerable ones in our society. Young people are facing many unforeseen challenges everywhere, which are often beyond their control, and these people count on us to ensure that we and our governments take the right step forward. This is the moment for everybody to work together as a team, and come up with the best possible solutions to some of the most pressing issues concerning youth.
At the same time, I also hope that Y7 Japan 2016 will further your personal development and global network of friends and partners. I am confident that many life-long friendships will be found here. Our job is to create an atmosphere where people can work together, have a great time together, create life-long memories, and find a cause to believe in.
I am looking forward to meeting you soon in Tokyo, and I hope you'll enjoy your time at the Y7 Japan 2016.
